Step into the Golden Era of Greek Cinema: Australian Hellenic Choir Presents an Unforgettable Concert

Get ready for a captivating journey into the enchanting world of Greek cinema as the Australian Hellenic Choir Inc. unveils its upcoming concert date. Mark your calendars for the highly anticipated “The Golden Age of Greek Cinema Concert,” taking place on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 4:30 PM. This sensational event will be hosted at the prestigious Ritz Cinema, nestled in the vibrant Sydney suburb of Randwick, Australia.

Prepare to be transported back in time as the choir breathes life into the iconic Movie Hits from the legendary era of Greek cinema. Celebrating the era that nurtured renowned composers, lyricists, singers, and actors, this concert promises an unforgettable experience.

James Tsolakis, the esteemed President of the Choir, shares his excitement: “We will be performing an exquisite selection of songs from the Golden Age of Greek Cinema, accompanied by carefully curated movie scenes featuring luminaries such as Aliki Vougiouklaki, Dimitri Horn, Sophia Loren, Tolis Voskopoulos, Tzeni Karezi, and Melina Mercouri.”

Under the guidance of their accomplished Music Director, Mr. Leon Vitogiannis, the choir has meticulously crafted a program that showcases the pivotal role of music in the Greek cinematic world. Mr. Vitogiannis explains the inspiration behind the concert: “This event draws inspiration from the era of silent film screenings, where music spoke in the realm of silence, evoking profound emotions. Melodies and harmonies become the poets, expressing the depths of the human condition. We are thrilled to bring this unique concept to Australia for the first time.”

Adding an interactive twist to the concert experience is the award-winning Director, Ms. Eirini Alligiannis. Renowned for her captivating documentary “Louie (Kr.One) Gasparro 5POINTZ,” Ms. Alligiannis has skillfully intertwined original movie clips, creating a continuous movie amalgamation that will leave the audience spellbound.

The Australian Hellenic Choir prides itself on being a multicultural and multilingual ensemble dedicated to bringing the world’s best music to Australian audiences. As a not-for-profit organisation, the net proceeds from this concert will be generously donated to various charities within the Greek community.

Mr. Tsolakis concludes with enthusiasm: “Building on the resounding success of our cross-cultural Mauthausen Concert in October 2022, we anticipate that this event will be another sold-out sensation.”
