Only 43% of Greeks support dispatch of military equipment to Ukraine

Only 43% of Greeks, compared to a European average of 64%, support financing the purchase and supply of military equipment to Ukraine, according to the findings of the Spring Eurobarometer 2023.

According to the report, published on Monday, this percentage was one of six responses to as many questions seeking to determine to what extent one agrees or disagrees with a series of actions taken by the EU to respond to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Another 88% of Greeks and European people overall support providing humanitarian support to the people affected by the war, while 88% of Greeks are positive towards welcoming into the EU people fleeing the war (86% European average total).

On imposing economic sanctions on Russian government, companies and individuals, 58% of Greeks said they support it, compared to the 72% of European citizens on average overall.

Concerning granting Ukraine candidate status as a potential EU member, 56% of Greeks said they favour it, as do 64% of Europeans.
