A 48-year-old priest allegedly abused his 41-year-old wife in the middle of the road near a coastal village in Rethymnon, Crete.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened when the two were returning from a festival to which they were invited, reported Ekklisia Online.
Residents and tourists were surprised to see the 48-year-old cleric shouting, cursing, pushing and slapping his wife in the face during the night. The witnesses say that the priest became jealous over something that happened at the village festival.
When people tried to hold the priest back, he, in a drunken state, attacked them as well. However, no complaint has yet been filed to the police against the priest.
