Hürriyet columnist Nedim Şener made provocative statements against Greece on Wednesday night, just shortly after the meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which was reportedly conducted in a good and calm atmosphere.
Nonetheless, the columnist launched an attack against Greece, in which he even questioned the sovereignty of dozens of Greek islands and urged Turkey to attack.
"Sovereignty over 150 islands and islets of the Aegean must be determined," he said.

"We have to fight; Turkey has to fight to stop the attacks it is receiving in the region. There is no other way," Şener continued.
At another point, the columnist emphasised that "typically, Greece should not be considered a state. It rebelled a few years ago; three countries founded it and appointed a German prince as a leader. This non-existent state attacks us and provokes us in a cheap way."
"This is a country that Turkey, with one push, could have finished, now it has taken America with it and is making a fool of itself. In front of us, we see the bloc that exists," he said.
"What I am saying clearly is that Turkey, in the issue of the islands, which according to the Treaty of Lausanne is right, reaches the point of losing its right, while we tell them that there are islands and islets in the Aegean and that its dominion," he continued in delirium.
"Also, since they [Greece] say they are sending military forces, they are militarising them. Then let's hit them to finish. There is no other way," he concluded.
