World Spa Awards: Which are the best Spas in Greece and Cyprus for 2023

The annual World Spa Awards, which recognise excellence in spa and wellness tourism, have been awarded for the ninth year. According to the organisers, they aim for the awards to showcase excellent standards and connect consumers with the world's best spa and wellness tourism providers.

At the same time, as a global brand, the awards offer an international status of excellence and raise awareness of the spa and wellness industry.

It is noted that, among others, the body awards global awards in areas such as cruises, gastronomy, golf, ski travel, travel technology and casinos.

In the Best Spa Hotel 2023 category, the award in our country went to The Spa at Amanzoe.

As the hotel points out, the holistic treatments of Hippocrates inspire the light-filled Spa of 2,850 sq.m. of Amanzoe, which combines nutrition, fitness, exercise, massage and swimming in the sea with modern natural products and treatments.

The awards also notes that only natural products are used in the spa, while a movement philosophy is followed, which treats the person as a coherent, integrated whole.

At the same time, in the Best Resort Spa 2023 category, the prize in Greece was won by Anassa Spa at Santo Pure Oia Suites & Villas. As its founders call it, the peaceful retreat beckons travellers seeking balance and reconnection.

There, a world of wellness experiences awaits them, offering harmony, self-fulfilment, and a genuine connection with nature.

The Best Wellness Retreat 2023 award in Greece was awarded to Euphoria Retreat. As Euphoria states, it is a journey that leads to the harmonisation of mind, body and spirit, achieved through a therapeutic philosophy that aims to activate and balance the traveller.

The best spas in Cyprus

Cyprus also presented important firsts, with AMARA Spa winning the Best Spa Hotel 2023 award.

Taking its name from the ancient Greek word amarantos, meaning eternal, AMARA offers its guests a wide range of spa and wellness treatments by the Amara Etiquette, using, among others, precious ingredients such as organic olive oil, carob seeds, citrus fruits and rosemary.

At the same time, the Best Resort Spa 2023 award in Cyprus was awarded to Kalloni Spa at Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort and spa in Limassol. As its creator states, as the only thalassotherapy centre in Cyprus, the 3,000 sq.m. spa. embodies the regenerative powers of the sea.

Among other things, the hotel offers fourteen treatment rooms, three Kalloni SPA Suites and various treatments.

In the category of Best Cyprus Wellness Retreat 2023, the corresponding award went to Minthis, a wellness retreat for rejuvenation and restoration, intrinsically connected to nature, which, among other things, combines the restorative power of local herbs and minerals with modern science.

Also, for Cyprus, the Best Day Spa 2023 award went to Natura SPA & Wellness, whose specially designed hammam, massages and treatments have the vision to offer experiences beyond all expectations.

The world's top spas

Also of great interest are the prizes awarded to the first of the world's first.

For 2023, the Best Spa Hotel in the World is the Alpine Spa at Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa in Switzerland. Following are the awards for Best Resort Spa 2023, won by AWAKEN, Atlantis The Palm in Dubai; Best Cruise Spa, awarded to SPA & Meer at TUI Cruises; Best Desert Resort Spa, awarded to The Aman Spa at Amangiri of the USA, of Best Wellness Retreat 2023 awarded to Italy's Palazzo Fiuggi, Best Spa Destination 2023 where Dubai emerged, and others such as Best Spa in an Airline Lounge, won by Emirates Timeless Spa.
