There are approximately 25 people still in Gaza with Greek passports.

The Interior Ministry of the Hamas government announced on Thursday that many displaced Palestinians, who had sought refuge in a church in Gaza City, were killed and others injured following an Israeli airstrike.

In a statement, the ministry states that the raid "caused a large number of martyrs and injured" in the area of ​​the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Porphyrius.

At the same time with its announcement, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its "deep sorrow for the loss of life caused by a strike on a building adjacent to the monastery of Agios Porphyrios in Gaza".

As emphasised in the announcement, "the protection of civilians and the security of places of worship and religious institutions should be ensured and respected on all sides."

It should be noted that there are approximately 25 people in Gaza with Greek passports.

Thirteen passport holders have declared that they want to leave and are in constant contact with the consulate and embassy. It has been agreed that as soon as Rafa opens they will go to Egypt. The rest, mainly associated with the church, had declared that they will stay.
