Hellenic Coast Guard Signs Contract for New Patrol Boats to Enhance Operational Capabilities

The Hellenic Coast Guard has reported the signing of a significant contract yesterday for the procurement of 5 Watercat 2000 Patrol Type Speed ​​Boats, valued at €17 million, with an option to acquire an additional 5 boats.

These new vessels have been commissioned to effectively address the operational requirements of the coast guard. The Watercat 2000 boats, measuring 19.5 meters in length and capable of reaching speeds over 50 knots, will be equipped with state-of-the-art surveillance technology.

The Finnish manufacturer, Marine Alutech OY AB, secured the contract through a competitive tender process, setting the cost per vessel at €3.4 million. This significant project is primarily funded by the European Union's Special Action "FRONTEX Organization Equipment," with a substantial co-financing rate of 90% from the Internal Security Fund of 2014-2020.
