Greek airline Lumiwings has signed a contract with Bosnia and Herzegovina's Tuzla airport to open a base at the airport and launch six routes, the airport operator said on Friday.

Each of these five routes will be operated twice per week.

The airport said the air carrier will also start a Tuzla-Istanbul service soon without providing further details.

Lumiwings has been selected as the winner in a public call for the introduction of new flights to Tuzla airport. Tuzla Canton said that in October, it decided to provide 2.5 million marka ($1.4 million/1.3 million) in subsidies to airlines for flights to the Tuzla airport.

Passenger numbers at Tuzla International Airport increased to 466,596 in 2022 from 299,031 a year earlier.
