Europe is on high alert and has issued warnings of terrorist attacks in major cities at a time when tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.
Greece has also drawn up a special plan in this context of drawing up special security measures for New Year's Eve.
In the evening, a crowd of people will be at the Syntagma to welcome 2024 at the municipality of Athens' event, and security measures will be increased in the wider area.
Throughout Attica, there will be increased patrols and the presence of plainclothes police officers.
At Eleftherios Venizelos airport, there will be police officers from the EKAM (riot response) team, explosive device disposal units, and patrols with trained dogs, while security supervisors will check anything suspicious they spot.
