The residents of Paphos saw a burnt iron skeleton today at the spot where the Christmas tree that the Municipality had put up was until yesterday evening.

The 40-foot-tall Christmas tree adorned with 17,000 lights burned down just after 3:00 a.m.

The Fire Department that went to the Square could not do much since the tree had been destroyed.

Investigations are underway to determine whether the fire was the work of arsonists or was caused by a short circuit.
