The president of the Greek Actors' Union, Spyros Bibilas, announced Varvara Mertyri's death on Friday.
Bibilas posted two photos of Varvara Mertyri on social media and wrote: "Unfortunately, a second loss from our artistic space today. Our beloved Varvaroula, Varvara Mertyri, is such a special actress and daughter of the unforgettable Athena Mertyri of the memorable roles in the films by Thanasis Veggos.
"Varvara played characteristic roles in theatre, films, and 'The Penthouse' on television. An elected member of SEH (Union of Greek Actors) and TASEI, she devoted herself in recent years to organising performances and being a theatre manager.
"She was active, a fighter, modest and the soul of the company. Also, a wonderful mother... Unforgettable for all of us... Condolences to her beloved daughter, our sweet friend Marina. Have a nice trip, Varvaroula..."
Varvara Mertyri has acted in popular telefilms and series. Among the most popular projects in which he had appeared were "Policeman Thanasis Papathanasis", "Malista Siri", "Penthouse", and "Para Five".
Her mother was the well-known actress Athena Mertyris, who passed away on November 24, 2007.
