The iconic skyscraper Burj Khalifa lit up in blue and white as Greek nationals in the UAE and across the world celebrated their Independence Day on March 25.
Her Highness Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the daughter of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took the opportunity to pay homage to her Greek roots on her mother’s side and shared a picture of the flag being displayed on the tower with a blue heart.

Who is Sheikha Mahra’s mother, Zoe Grigorakos?
Sheikha Mahra shares a strong bond with her mother, Zoe Grigorakos, as she is constantly seen in photographs on her Instagram page.
Zoe, who was previously married to Sheikh Mohammed, is from Greece, and Sheikha Mahra has mixed heritage with Emirati and Greek roots. She attended Sheikha Mahra’s graduation ceremony last year in February as well as her wedding in the summer of 2023. Sheikha Mahra Honeymooned in Greece.
Her Highness married Sheikh Mana Al Maktoum, and after three months of their wedding, the royal couple took a trip to the Mediterranean country to mark their honeymoon.
The duo shared pictures from their holiday on the Greek island of Mykonos. They enjoyed time at the pristine beaches of Greece, enjoyed a ride on a jet ski, and indulged in local cuisine at the popular restaurant Nammos.
Sheikha Mahra had also shared a picture of her and her husband strolling the streets together in perfect vacation attire. She wore a turquoise printed co-ord paired with white sandals and a tan handbag, and Sheikh Manna sported khaki slacks, a button-down shirt, and a straw fedora hat.
The couple is now expecting their first child together – a baby girl.
