Palestinian and Kurdish nationals were the targets of a violent shooting on Thursday night at Kifisos KTEL bus station in Athens, reported state broadcaster ERT.

Exclusive footage obtained by ERTNews captured the harrowing moment when an assailant, dressed in dark clothing and sneakers, approached a group of three individuals enjoying a meal at a station store. Without hesitation, the perpetrator opened fire, causing panic and chaos to erupt within the premises.

The victim, a 28-year-old male Kurd whose identity remains undisclosed, sustained serious injuries to his hand and back during the attack. Despite efforts to seek refuge in a nearby taxi, the victim collapsed, prompting urgent medical attention. He was swiftly transported to Gennimatas Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and currently remains in critical condition.

Law enforcement authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident, with a primary focus on apprehending the perpetrator responsible for this senseless act of violence. Although initial reports suggested the presence of multiple suspects, subsequent inquiries led to the release of four individuals, including two Kurds and one Palestinian, who were found to have no connection to the crime.

Witness testimonies from the victim's companions are being closely analyzed in an attempt to uncover the motive behind the brazen assault. Meanwhile, heightened security measures have been implemented at the Kifisos KTEL station to ensure the safety of commuters and staff members.
