4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southeast of Zakros, Crete

An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale occurred at noon on Sunday (31/3).

According to the Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake occurred at 13:38, 70 km SE of Zakros, and the focal depth was 4.7 km.

In particular, on behalf of the four constituent bodies of the Unified National Seismological Network, the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens announced today that at 13:38 Greek time, the seismological network recorded a weak seismic tremor with a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred at a distance of 460 km SE of Athens. The epicenter of the tremor is located in the sea area, 68 km SE of Goudouras Lasithi.
