The world mourns the passing of Patrikios Kaleodis, revered as a distinguished authority on ecclesiastical protocol, having dedicated his life to the study and practice from the early years of Byzantine Empire. Patrikios's death on 29th March 2024, at the age of 83, marks the end of an era in religious scholarship.

Originally hailing from Tinos, Greece, Patrikios's journey intertwined closely with Patriarchs, Archbishops and the cleric of kings, queens, princes and princesses from an early age. His upbringing in Athens and later studies in Constantinople shaped his profound understanding of religious customs and rituals, garnering him respect and admiration from monarchs and clergy alike.

Despite his prominence, he remained humble and modest, declining prestigious positions within both the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Church of Greece. Instead, he chose a path of service, ministering to congregations and dignitaries with unwavering dedication.

Notably, Patrikios's association with the former royal family endured through decades, earning him a place of reverence among kings and queens. His steadfast presence during solemn occasions, such as the funeral of former King Constantine, symbolised his integral role within royal circles.

"He was a support for us. But also a spiritual man of great kindness and humility," former queen Anna-Maria told newspaper 'To Vima'. "An inexhaustible source of energy which yielded an important work, part of which is the revival of the Albanian church. He was always part of our family life and my husband had a sincere respect for him. For us he was a role model and a Holy Power and we will always feel his presence in our lives," she noted.
