A harrowing ordeal unfolded for an elderly couple in the Athens suburb Voula after two assailants forcibly entered their residence on Sunday evening and robbed the couple, aged 86 and 73.
According to reports from ERT, the perpetrators gained entry through an unsecured window before subjecting the elderly occupants to physical violence. The assailants then tied the couple up and locked them in a storage room within the house.
During the terrifying ordeal, the robbers ransacked the premises, targeting a safe and stealing its contents. Despite attempting to access a second safe without success, the perpetrators managed to flee the scene with their loot.
Following the traumatic incident, emergency services rushed to the aid of the elderly victims, transporting them to Voula Asclepion Hospital for medical attention. Thankfully, their injuries are being treated and their lives are not in danger.
