Law enforcement authorities were called to a residence in the Athens suburb of Ilioupoli at around 10:00pm on Wednesday evening after receiving reports of two individuals found dead.
Upon arrival, police officers discovered the bodies of a woman, aged approximately 60 years, and a man, aged around 36 years, inside the first-floor apartment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that both individuals sustained fatal gunshot wounds. A firearm, believed to be a shotgun, was recovered at the scene. Initial assessments indicate that the victims may have been deceased for a number of days prior to the discovery.
Efforts are underway to locate the husband of the deceased woman, who is reported to be the owner of the firearm. The weapon has been secured and sent for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
