Central Turkey Rattled by 5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Near Ankara

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake rocked central Turkey on Thursday afternoon, with its epicentre near Ankara. The quake, which struck at 18:11 local time, jolted the cities of Tokat and Sivas, sending tremors through the region. The focal depth of the earthquake was recorded at 5.25 km.

Authorities have mobilised response teams from agencies like AFAD to assess the situation on the ground. Interior Minister Ali Erlikaya assured the public that investigations were underway to gauge the extent of the damage.
