Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis started his three-day tour of the Epirus region on Tuesday from the port city of Igoumenitsa.

According to party sources, Kasselakis discussed the government's recent decision to privatize the port of Igoumenitsa with the locals.

"The ports, especially the hub ports, are public goods. They are geopolitical and a national issue, so we should not sell them off without any commitment to Greek citizens," Kasselakis said.

He also noted, "The main stake for the country's political scene is morality, in order to restore trust," and explained, "Greece lags behind, above all, in morality in politics. Citizens do not trust politics, and politicians exploit citizens. This vicious circle must end."

Referring to the upcoming European elections, Kasselakis said, "Greece must stop having an 'à la carte' relationship with Europe," characteristically adding, "We cannot be a European country only by choice."
