Migrant Dies, Five Injured After Boat Collision with Greek Coast Guard

Athens, Greece - Tragedy struck in the Aegean Sea on Friday night as a migrant boat collided with a Greek coast guard vessel, resulting in one fatality and five injuries.

According to Greek authorities, two coast guard patrol boats encountered an inflatable speedboat traveling at high speed without navigation lights near the island of Symi. The speedboat, suspected of carrying migrants, was headed towards the island of Nimos. During the ensuing pursuit, the migrant boat collided with one of the coast guard vessels.

The collision resulted in the death of one migrant, while five others sustained injuries. Details regarding the nationalities of those involved and the extent of the injuries are yet to be released.
