Double Earthquake Strikes Arkalochori, Crete

A double earthquake, measuring 4.2 and 3.6 on the Richter scale, struck Arkalochori, Crete, causing concern among residents. The two earthquakes occurred on Tuesday morning, shortly before and after 9 am on June 11th.

Speaking to cretalive, seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos explained, "When there is an active fault that has caused a large earthquake, seismic activity doesn't cease completely. This fault still exhibits activity, but that doesn't mean we are in danger. We are experiencing a normal situation."

It's worth noting that Arkalochori was severely affected by a 5.8 magnitude earthquake on September 27th, 2021. Many residents still reside in temporary housing, such as containers, as their homes remain under repair.
