US Forces Destroy Houthi Missile Launchers After Attack on Greek-Owned Ship in Red Sea

M/V Tutor, a Liberian flagged, Greek owned and operated vesse

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that a Houthi unmanned surface vessel (USV) struck a Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned and operated merchant vessel, M/V Tutor, in the Red Sea. The attack caused significant damage to the ship's engine room.

CENTCOM stated that in response to the attack, U.S. forces successfully destroyed three anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) launchers located in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen. Additionally, they intercepted an unmanned aerial system (UAS) launched from the same region over the Red Sea.

"While there were no reported injuries or damage to U.S., coalition, or other commercial vessels from a separate launch of two anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBM) by the Houthis, the attack on M/V Tutor demonstrates the continued threat posed by Iranian-backed forces to regional security and commerce," CENTCOM said in a statement.
