Greece: The World's Second Most Welcoming Country for Tourists!

Skopelos Greek Islands tourist sector

Greece has been named the second most tourist-friendly destination in the world, according to a new report by Remitly, a digital financial services company. This report is based on a global study that examined the characteristics of "agreeableness" using the Big 5 Personality Test, a widely recognized personality assessment tool.

"Agreeableness" is defined by traits like friendliness, kindness, and cooperation. So, it is a huge honour for Greece to rank second globally in this category!

Philoxenia in Action!

It's no surprise that Greece ranks so high on the list. The concept of "philoxenia"—hospitality—has been a cornerstone of Greek culture for centuries. Even in ancient times, Greeks were renowned for their warm reception of foreign visitors. This tradition continues today, with Greeks welcoming tourists from all over the world with open arms and friendly smiles.

South Africa Takes the Top Spot

South Africa claims the top spot as the world's most welcoming destination, according to the report. But with Greece following closely behind at number two, our long-standing tradition of hospitality shines through. Rounding out the top five are Croatia, Mexico, and Sweden.

Why Does Friendliness Matter in Tourism?

The friendliness of a destination's residents can significantly impact a tourist's experience. When visitors feel welcome and comfortable, they're more likely to enjoy their vacation and create positive memories.

Greece Continues to Shine!

Greece's second-place ranking in global tourist friendliness is yet another significant achievement for our country. This accomplishment makes us all proud and motivates us to keep providing our visitors with the best possible experience.
