Harry Connick Jr. to Sing in Greek in New Netflix Movie Filmed in Cyprus Find Me Falling

In a Grecian twist on his storied career, renowned musician and actor Harry Connick Jr. ventures into uncharted territory with his latest project, "Find Me Falling," set to debut exclusively on Netflix on July 19th. Written and directed by Stelana Kliris, this romantic comedy marks not only Connick's first foray into Netflix originals but also the streaming giant's inaugural film shot in Cyprus.

The film follows the journey of John Allman, portrayed by Connick, a disillusioned rock star grappling with the aftermath of a failed comeback album and the fading allure of his greatest hits. Seeking solace and a fresh start, Allman retreats to an isolated cliffside home on the picturesque Mediterranean island of Cyprus. However, his quest for peace is soon thwarted by unexpected encounters and the rekindling of an old flame, played by Agni Scott.

For Connick, known for his multifaceted career in music and film ("Independence Day," "New in Town"), "Find Me Falling" offers a departure from his usual roles. "He's playing against type as a brooding, tattooed, lonely rock star," Kliris reveals, highlighting Connick's versatility and commitment to the character.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better fit, and on top of that, he wrote two fantastic songs for the film.”

A Love Letter to Cyprus

Director Stelana Kliris, a native of Cyprus, imbues the film with a deep affection for her homeland. Filmed against the backdrop of Cyprus's stunning vistas and azure coastlines, "Find Me Falling" showcases the island's natural beauty as an integral part of its storytelling.

“This film is a love letter to Cyprus, and I hope that it transports audiences and gives them a little bit of magical escapism,” she says. “Plus, there was nothing better than walking out on set on a cliff overlooking the endless blue horizon of the Mediterranean Sea. You can’t ask for a better ‘view from the office!’”

“This is a love story about many kinds of love: romantic, family, lifelong dreams, and what you’re willing to sacrifice for the people or the things you love,” Kliris says. “John essentially has to decide whether the love of his life is his music or the woman he left behind.”

Beyond Connick's charismatic portrayal, "Find Me Falling" boasts a diverse ensemble cast including Ali Fumiko Whitney, Tony Demetriou, and Aggeliki Filippidou, each contributing to the film's charm and emotional resonance. Kliris emphasiz=ses the importance of authenticity in crafting a compelling romantic comedy, ensuring that viewers connect deeply with the characters and their journeys.

“Harry Connick Jr. has a few new songs for you … in more than one language.”

“You can have all the bells, whistles and gags that you want, but without real substance, you can’t connect with your star-crossed lovers,” she says. “You also need characters — and the actors who play them — that people will fall in love with. Find Me Falling certainly has both.”

Kliris also makes a few promises. “This movie will feel like a vacation,” she says. And one more thing: “Harry Connick Jr. has a few new songs for you … in more than one language.”

We can only assume she is hinting that Connick will be singing his new songs in Greek!

As anticipation builds for its global release on Netflix, "Find Me Falling" promises viewers a cinematic escape filled with romance, introspection, and Connick's musical talents. With its unique blend of humour, heart, and stunning cinematography, the film aims to captivate audiences worldwide and leave a lasting impression.

“Are y’all ready to fall in love with life again???” Connick asks his social media followers in a recent post.  “Find Me Falling” is coming to @netflix July 19.”

We can’t wait.
