A gas leak at a hotel in the village of Limnochori in northern Greece led to the hospitalisation of 14 people on Sunday, with one guest now in critical condition.
The incident occurred at a hotel in Florina, a region near the Greek-Macedonian border, where visitors reported symptoms of gas exposure.
The most seriously affected individual was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Kozani’s General Hospital, while nine others received treatment at Florina General Hospital. Four additional guests were admitted to Bodosakio Hospital in nearby Ptolemaida. Medical officials indicated that all but the ICU patient were expected to be released by the end of the day.
Greek authorities have arrested the hotel’s owner, a 53-year-old man, on charges of causing bodily harm and endangerment through negligence. An investigation is underway to identify the cause of the leak, with officials assessing both the hotel’s gas installations and emergency response protocols.
