In a heartfelt tribute to the men and women of the Hellenic Air Force, Greece’s Minister of Defence, Nikos Dendias, visited the Icaron School today to take part in the celebration of Archangel Michael, the Patron Saint of the Air Force.
Dendias shared his pleasure at attending the event, expressing his admiration for the exceptional work of the Air Force personnel. He highlighted the crucial role they play in defending Greece’s national rights and sovereignty, particularly in the challenging and often tense airspace of the Eastern Mediterranean.
“I was very happy to be at the Icaron School today for the celebration of the Patron Saint of the Air Force, Archangel Michael,” Dendias said in a social media post. “I had the opportunity to congratulate the personnel for their excellent response to their duties and to express the gratitude of Greek society for their contribution to the defence of National Rights.”
The Minister also took a moment to commend the bravery and dedication of Greek pilots, who vigilantly guard the nation’s airspace. His words were a fitting tribute as the country marked the feast day of Archangel Michael, who has long been the symbolic protector of the Hellenic Air Force.
“Many happy returns to our pilots who guard our sovereignty every day in the airwaves, as well as to all the women and men of our Air Force, on the feast of their patron Archangel Michael,” Dendias added. “Eternal Sovereign!”
