Two Arrested at Athens Airport with 5kg of Cannabis and Over 3,500 Pills

Two foreign nationals have been arrested at Athens International Airport, accused of attempting to smuggle drugs into Greece as part of an international criminal organisation involved in narcotics trafficking.

According to a statement from the Greek police, the arrests occurred yesterday afternoon at the El. Venizelos airport following a targeted operation by the Airport Narcotics Department. The accused were flagged as members of a global network actively importing illicit substances into Greece for distribution.

The operation unfolded as the suspects arrived from a European country. Upon conducting thorough searches, authorities discovered and seized the following items:

- 5 kilograms and 20 grams of cannabis
- 1,960 tablets of Captagon
- 1,880 ecstasy tablets
- 7 pharmaceutical pills
- €660 in cash
- 2 mobile phones

Both suspects were detained and are set to appear before the relevant prosecuting authorities. Investigations into the broader criminal organisation are ongoing.
