Samos, Greece – November 25, 2024 – A search and rescue operation is underway in the waters north of Samos, Greece, following a tragic shipwreck that has claimed the lives of eight people, including six children. The Hellenic Coast Guard, under the coordination of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), is leading the effort.
So far, 36 survivors have been rescued by Greek authorities. A Coast Guard patrol boat also rescued three individuals stranded on a rocky shore. Tragically, eight bodies have been recovered from the sea: six children and two women.

Difficult weather conditions, with winds reaching 5-6 Beaufort, are hampering rescue efforts. The operation involves a patrol boat, a rescue vessel, a Coast Guard patrol craft, an aircraft, and a helicopter, along with ground forces from the Hellenic Police.
The search continues for any remaining survivors. Authorities remain vigilant and are committed to exhausting all efforts to find and rescue anyone still missing.
