The 30-year-old Pakistani accused of murdering a 35-year-old mother of one child, who was found dead in an underground studio apartment in the centre of Larissa on September 8, 2022, has been arrested, Parapolitika reported.

In a classic case of “Love Jihad”, the Pakistani man was the partner of 35-year-old Greek woman Ioanna, whom he systematically abused. In fact, the woman had reported him to the authorities for domestic violence.

However, the authorities did not prevent the murder and eventually found the woman in advanced decomposition, having been killed at least a week before her discovery.

Her skull was crushed

The then 27-year-old perpetrator had killed her by crushing her skull with a blunt object.

The autopsy performed on Ioanna, who was found wrapped in a duvet on a mattress, which was the only piece of furniture in the basement apartment where she lived with her partner and murderer, revealed that she had been murdered by a blow to the head with unprecedented violence from a blunt instrument, which caused a fracture in the right temporal-parietal region of her skull.

It is noted that the 27-year-old Pakistani was out on restrictive terms and had been detained in Athens for drug cases, while at the same time, he had to appear at the police station at regular intervals and was prohibited from leaving the country.

However, after the murder, he fled Greece.

What is “Love Jihad”?

Love Jihad is the phenomenon of Muslim men luring non-Islamic women into relationships and marriages in an effort to forcibly convert them to Islam.

The most infamous case of Love Jihad in Greece is that of Nicoleta, a 17-year-old girl who was murdered in western Athens by her 22-year-old Pakistani boyfriend in 2022, allegedly because she cursed Mohammed, the founder of Islam, during an argument.

During his testimony in court in 2023, the 23-year-old claimed that he had been in a relationship with the girl for 1.5 years and claimed that the reason for their fight was his decision to leave Greece and go to Italy.

The girl, as he said, giving his own version of the events, asked him to be baptised a Christian, and during an argument, she cursed Mohammad.

Describing the moments in which he committed the crime, the 23-year-old gave his own version, saying in his testimony: “I went to leave and she started throwing my clothes. I told her to sit on the bed, she started cursing me and cursing Muhammad. I pushed her off the bed and told her to stay there.

“She kept cursing me and Mohammad, and I got angry. I grabbed her by the neck and started telling her, ‘Who is telling you such things all the time? I’m listening to you’. I grabbed her at that time by the head and told her to apologise.

“She grabbed my hand and told me to let her go. I didn’t let her go and kept telling her to apologise. After some seconds, I saw that her eyes were closed. Then I gave her water, gave her air. I was nervous and left the house.”

It is recalled that the father said in August 2022 that he disapproved of not only the relationship but of any type of relationship with “these people”.

“Finally, here it is, what happened. She thought her relationship would be very good, and here is the result,” he said.

The autopsy results found that the Pakistani allegedly used his hands to suffocate his 17-year-old girlfriend.

With his left hand, he allegedly pressed her nose and head and left marks, bruises and small abrasions on her face. With his right hand, he closed her mouth, probably using some small cloth.

According to a report by the Free Press, police detected dozens of threatening messages on Nicoleta’s mobile phone from the Pakistani man.
