According to Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Konstantinos Kyranakis, Greece will establish 18 data centres by 2030, primarily in Attica and Thessaloniki, with additional facilities planned for Western Macedonia, Thessaly, and Crete. At the 14th Athens Energy Summit, Kyranakis emphasized Greece's commitment to attracting tech investments and ensuring the necessary infrastructure for electricity supply.

However, he warned that rising energy costs could deter future investments and urged the EU to address energy pricing at a continental level. He noted that US tech giants are reassessing data centre locations based on energy prices, posing challenges to Greece’s competitive position. Additionally, Kyranakis highlighted that Google has yet to develop a fully renewable-powered data centre anywhere in the world.
