Areopoli, Greece – Today, as every year, the town of Areopoli commemorates the historic moment when our ancestors raised the banner of freedom and declared the start of the Greek Revolution on March 17, 1821.

With deep emotion and pride, I attended the memorial events honoring the Maniot fighters who ignited the struggle for independence with their resounding call: “Freedom or Death.” These brave warriors from the Mani Peninsula stood at the forefront of the revolution, delivering the first powerful message of resistance against oppression.
