The Municipality of Athens is set to participate in the global “Earth Hour” initiative tomorrow, Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
In a symbolic gesture to raise awareness about global warming, the city will turn off the lights at seven prominent buildings: the City Hall at Kotzia Square, the Liosion Street Municipal Building, the Patission Street Municipal Building, Technopolis, the Kypseli Municipal Market, the Maria Callas Museum, and the Athens Hestia of the Municipal Reception and Solidarity Center.
The Municipality of Athens is calling on residents to join this worldwide effort by switching off their home lights for one hour starting at 8:30 p.m. This collective action aims to send a powerful message about protecting the planet, uniting Athenians with millions of people across more than 180 countries.
This year’s “Earth Hour” in Greece is dedicated to the sea, a vital element closely tied to our quality of life and the survival of countless marine species. Through this initiative, Athens hopes to inspire both local and global action to safeguard the environment.
