The President of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ioannis Bratakos, met with the Ambassador of India to Greece, Rudrendra Tandon, on Friday.

During the conversation between the Ambassador and Bratakos, emphasis was placed on strengthening business relations between India and Greece.

Bratakos underlined that “the relations between the two countries have been significantly strengthened in recent years, with the upgrading of the level of cooperation to a strategic relationship. In this context and taking into account the rapid developments in the international economic and geopolitical environment, the two sides agreed on the need to intensify economic cooperation.”

He pointed out that “India, as a global economic power, is emerging as a strategically important alternative ally and partner for the Greek economy.”

Areas in which opportunities for further strengthening cooperation were identified include trade, investment, high technology, artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, tourism, culture, as well as the exchange of know-how and labor.

Ambassador Tandon also informed Bratakos about the leading organization of industry in the South Asian country, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), with which the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry will sign a Memorandum of Understanding next Wednesday. This signing is a follow-up to the government mission that took place in India last year.

As highlighted, the upcoming signing marks an important step in strengthening business ties between the two countries. The collaboration with the CII is expected to open new avenues for Greek businesses in the Indian market, facilitating access to information, contacts and cooperation opportunities.
