After a dramatic win against Scotland at Hampden Park on Sunday, March 23, Greece’s national football team has now discovered its final group stage opponent for the World Cup qualifiers. Denmark, who were knocked out by Portugal in the Nations League quarterfinals, will be joining Greece in the group.

Greece will thus face Denmark, Scotland, and Belarus in their quest for World Cup qualification. Although the group is challenging, Greece has demonstrated the capability to earn a place in the tournament.

Qualification Path

In the current format, the top 12 teams from the qualifying groups will directly advance to the World Cup. The last four spots will be filled via playoffs, which will include the runners-up from each group and the four best Nations League group winners who didn’t qualify directly.

A total of 16 teams will participate in the playoff stage, organized into four groups. The victors of these knockout fixtures will secure the final four European berths for the World Cup.
