A 34-year-old Greek national was detained on Friday, March 21, by the Mykonos Police Sub-Directorate in a case involving the distribution of pornographic material, privacy violations, and money laundering.
According to the Hellenic Police (ELAS), the suspect systematically collected photos and videos of women on mobile devices and, using a fake female profile, sold the explicit content for profit over the past five years.
The investigation uncovered a scheme of revenge pornography, with the 34-year-old allegedly amassing more than €50,000 from his illegal activities. Authorities estimate that a significant portion of the earnings was funnelled into his bank account through a third party involved in the transactions. Following his identification and arrest, a case file was compiled and submitted to the Syros Prosecutor’s Office.
Police seized three mobile phones from the suspect, containing a large number of pornographic files, prepaid cards, and chat logs documenting his dealings. The confiscated devices will be sent to the Directorate of Forensic Investigations for further analysis.
This case sheds light on the growing issue of digital exploitation, with authorities cracking down on such crimes in one of Greece’s most popular tourist destinations. The suspect now faces charges as the legal process unfolds.
