Twenty-seven diplomatic missions in Greece have voiced solidarity with Greece’s LGBTQI+ communities, announcing their participation in Athens Pride 2025 on June 14, marking the event’s 20th anniversary.
“Over a year after Greece’s historic marriage and adoption equality laws, we celebrate progress while acknowledging the ongoing fight for full equality. Amid global challenges to hard-won rights, we remain committed to protecting and promoting the dignity and rights of all,” the missions stated in a joint release.
They emphasized that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex individuals deserve equal enjoyment of human rights and freedoms, advocating for non-discrimination and equal treatment in all aspects of life. The statement aims to inspire broader support for a just, inclusive, and equal future.
The co-signing missions include Albania, Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Estonia, the European Commission Representation in Greece, the European Parliament Office in Greece, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Canada, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Mexico, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Czech Republic, and Finland.
This year’s Athens Pride adopts the slogan “We Count.”
