A major rescue operation was launched on Thursday to save around 120 migrants aboard a sailing boat in distress south of Rhodes.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) coordinated the effort after the vessel was spotted 17 nautical miles southeast of the island.
According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, the boat was located by an open-sea patrol vessel, while two passing ships also assisted in the operation.
All 120 migrants were safely transferred to the port of Rhodes.
