Greek Parliament Approves Concession for Mega-Yacht Marina in Corfu

The Hellenic Parliament on Thursday ratified a concession agreement paving the way for the construction and operation of a new mega-yacht marina on the island of Corfu.

The agreement, signed between the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF, now part of Greece’s Superfund) and the Corfu Port Authority on one side, and Lamda Corfu Marina Single-Member Limited Liability Company along with Lamda Marinas S.A. on the other, grants the private consortium the right to develop, manage, and operate the marina for 40 years.

Under the deal, Lamda Marinas will pay an upfront fee of €9.7 million and an annual concession fee equal to 7.7% of its turnover. The project is expected to include full infrastructure for hosting mega-yachts, as well as supporting facilities for high-end tourism services.

The concession was approved with the votes of the ruling New Democracy party. PASOK chose to vote “present,” while all other opposition parties — SYRIZA, the Communist Party (KKE), Nea Aristera, Elliniki Lysi, Niki, and Plefsi Eleftherias — opposed the measure.

Supporters of the deal argue that the new marina will boost Corfu’s tourism profile and attract high-value visitors, while critics have raised environmental and transparency concerns over the terms and long duration of the concession.
