"The Heroes of Christmas Are Calling You – Discover Drama"

Drama, Greece – The Regional Unit of Drama is unveiling an exciting new initiative this year at Oniroupoli, the city's premier Christmas event, which draws tens of thousands of visitors from across Greece and abroad annually.

Titled "The Heroes of Christmas Are Calling You – Discover Drama", the innovative project combines augmented reality (AR) with family-friendly activities, offering a fresh way to experience the region’s holiday spirit while promoting its tourism offerings.

The centerpiece of the initiative is the "House of Dreams", a specially designed space that serves as the main showcase of Drama. This festive venue, adorned with lights and garlands, provides a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. It features QR points where guests of all ages can scan codes to "bring to life" iconic Christmas characters like Santa Claus, the elves, the Three Wise Men, and the Christmas Fairy. The House of Dreams also distributes souvenirs as a memento of the children’s participation in the experience.

The heart of the initiative is the interactive AR adventure, "The Heroes of Christmas", which takes place throughout the duration of Dreamtown. Children embark on a digital quest where they engage with Christmas heroes, complete festive challenges, and discover hidden surprises through their mobile devices. By scanning QR codes placed around Dreamtown, children can take part in activities like smiling for a selfie, making a wish, or answering holiday-themed "secrets" from the heroes. The experience culminates in an impressive AR scene where Santa’s sleigh flies over the city of Drama, linking the magical world of Dreamland with real-life attractions in the region.

The action is guided by a storyline that begins with "The Mission of the Christmas Heroes". Starting with a letter from Santa, children are assigned the role of little helpers. As they complete challenges by scanning QR codes, they collect "magic cues" that eventually activate the sleigh, completing a fun, interactive treasure hunt filled with Christmas charm.

In addition to the digital adventure, participants will receive the "Magic Passport of Dreamland", a printed booklet dedicated to the sights of Drama. As children complete each challenge, they collect stamps, and at the end of the experience, they will receive a special seal from the Regional Unit of Drama, creating a collectible and educational souvenir that promotes the region’s tourism both locally and beyond.

With this new initiative, Drama aims to offer a festive, modern experience for families, while reinforcing its presence at Oniroupoli. The project blends technology, play, and tourism, showcasing the region’s local attractions in a unique way. Through this innovative action, the Regional Unit of Drama seeks to boost the visibility of the city, creating a lasting digital presence that will continue to engage visitors long after the holiday season.
