Greece: Stores Open Four Sundays for Christmas Shopping – Black Friday Begins November 28

Christmas shopping

Stores across Greece will open on four Sundays this festive season, offering consumers more time to complete their Christmas and New Year shopping.

The Ministry of Development has announced the exceptional operating dates for December, set in cooperation with trade associations to meet increased demand during the holidays.

Stores will open on the following Sundays:

  • November 30, 2025
  • December 14, 2025
  • December 21, 2025
  • December 28, 2025

These dates are selected to support holiday shopping and coincide with discount periods. The ministry also noted that a new Joint Ministerial Decision will set the framework governing Sunday store openings for next year. Final dates will be confirmed based on the annual discount schedule and overall festive planning.

Black Friday launches the sales season.

This year’s Black Friday falls on November 28, kicking off the pre-Christmas sales period. Several major retailers have already extended their promotions, launching a whole “sales week” from Monday, November 24, and in some cases, even promoting a “Black Month”.

Following Black Friday, Cyber Monday arrives on December 1, featuring significant online shopping discounts.
