Greek Pop Star Giorgos Mazonakis Accused of Making ‘Immoral Proposals’ by 21-Year-Old Singer

The young singer, Stefanos Papadopoulos, alleges that Mazonakis made repeated unethical advances and placed psychological pressure on him while the two were performing at the same Athens nightclub earlier this year.

Mazonakis has fiercely denied the allegations, describing them as “completely false” and part of an organised blackmail scheme, and has filed a counter-complaint with Greece’s Extortion Department.

‘Humiliating and Intimidating’

According to court documents, Papadopoulos claims the incidents occurred in March and April 2025 and created what he describes as a humiliating and intimidating working environment.

The lawsuit alleges repeated suggestive remarks, unwanted physical proximity and persistent invitations, which the complainant says he rejected despite mounting pressure.

The claims quickly sparked public debate, with the case dominating Greek media and social platforms.

Instagram ‘Like’ Raises Eyebrows

The controversy deepened after it emerged that the young singer continued to interact with Mazonakis on Instagram months after their collaboration had ended.

Greek television presenters revealed that Papadopoulos was still liking the star’s posts as late as 27 November, just weeks before filing the lawsuit.

The revelation prompted widespread speculation, with one presenter asking how someone who had experienced the alleged behaviour could maintain friendly online contact.

Papadopoulos’ lawyer, Alexandros Papagiannidis, dismissed the suggestion, insisting that social media activity does not undermine the case.

“A ‘like’ does not cancel out a lawsuit,” he said, adding that psychological reactions differ from person to person.

The interaction was later removed after the issue became public.

Mazonakis Claims ‘Organised Blackmail’

In a strongly worded statement, Mazonakis’ legal team said the accusations were part of a deliberate attempt to extort the singer for business-related reasons.

His lawyer claimed that earlier efforts to pressure Mazonakis had failed, leading to what he described as fabricated allegations supported by false witnesses.

The defence also pointed to the timing of the lawsuit, which was filed just hours before the launch of Mazonakis’ new live performances, despite the alleged incidents occurring months earlier.

Police Investigation Underway

Greek authorities are now examining digital evidence, witness testimony and the timeline of events to determine whether the allegations reflect misconduct or support claims of a coordinated attempt to damage the artist’s reputation.

Despite the dispute, a pinned Instagram post from May remains visible on Papadopoulos’ profile, showing him performing alongside Mazonakis and praising their collaboration.

‘Confidence in Justice’

Mazonakis has thanked fans for their support, saying he has full confidence in the Greek justice system and expects the truth to emerge.

The case remains under investigation.

Mazonakis Returns to the Stage After Lawsuit

Despite the legal storm surrounding him, Giorgos Mazonakis went ahead with the premiere of his new live performances on Thursday evening, December 19, at Akti Piraeus.

The appearance came just days after the lawsuit filed against him by 21-year-old singer Stefanos Papadopoulos became public.

Taking to the stage, Mazonakis addressed the audience in an upbeat and confident manner, striking a defiant yet positive tone.

“How are you? How are you?” he asked the crowd. “You have to be yourself. Don’t be shy. When the lights go out, spread your hands.”

Later in the show, the singer delivered a line widely interpreted as a message to critics and supporters alike, effectively stating: “I am Giorgos Mazonakis — the real one.”
