Greek Coast Guard Recovers Body Searching for Missing Migrants

Greek authorities have recovered the body of one of four migrants reported missing at sea north of the island of Samos during a search and rescue operation carried out by the Greek Coast Guard.

The operation was launched after police officers located 26 foreign nationals in the Petalides area of Samos, who told authorities that four people from their group were missing in the nearby maritime area north of the island.

Search efforts are being coordinated by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) and involve an offshore patrol vessel of the Greek Coast Guard, a helicopter, a private boat, and coast guard personnel conducting searches from land.

The search is continuing for the remaining three missing migrants as authorities seek to determine the circumstances under which they went missing.
