Traffic restrictions will come into effect in Athens on the evening of New Year’s Eve as the capital celebrates the arrival of 2026.

The measures around Syntagma Square and Pedion tou Areos park will be in force in stages from 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until the conclusion of the events in the early hours of the New Year.

Traffic will be suspended in stages on the following roads: Vasilissis Sofias Avenue (between Sekeri Street and Panepistimiou Street), Alexandras Avenue (between Moustoxidi and Patision streets, including side streets up to the first parallel street in the direction of Patision), all of Amalias Avenue, Syngrou Avenue (between Amalias Avenue and Dionysiou Areopagitou Street), all of Mavrommateon Street, all around Syntagma Square, Stadiou Street (between Amerikis and Vasilissis Georgiou A streets, including side streets up to the first parallel street) and all of Filellinon Street, including side streets up to the first parallel street.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and follow police directions.
