Defending champions United States advanced to the United Cup semifinals with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Greece in the Perth quarterfinal at RAC Arena.

Coco Gauff and Christian Harrison delivered the decisive blow in a dramatic mixed doubles match, defeating Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas 4-6, 6-4, [10-8].

The tie opened with Gauff dominating Sakkari in women's singles, winning 6-3, 6-2 to give USA a 1-0 lead.

Tsitsipas then leveled the score at 1-1, earning a 6-4, 7-5 upset over Taylor Fritz – his first Top 10 win in over 18 months.

In the clincher, the mixed doubles saw intense swings: Sakkari/Tsitsipas took the first set 6-4, but Gauff/Harrison forced a tiebreak after winning the second 6-4. The Americans raced to a 6-1 lead in the match tiebreak before Greece fought back to 6-6. USA regained control to win 10-8.

Team USA now heads to Sydney for the semifinals, where they will face the winner of the Switzerland-Argentina quarterfinal.
