Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou is currently in Saudi Arabia, where he is conducting a series of high-level meetings with government officials and business leaders. Among these, he held discussions with Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump and executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
During his visit, Minister Papastavrou also engaged with senior executives from Dar Global, a Dubai-based luxury real estate developer listed on the London Stock Exchange. Dar Global serves as the international division of Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development, one of Saudi Arabia's leading property groups. The parent entity for these operations is Quara Holding, a Saudi investment firm active in real estate, financial services, technology, and digital solutions.
Dar Global maintains a close partnership with the Trump Organization in Saudi Arabia. The two entities recently announced the launch of two major Trump-branded luxury projects in Riyadh and Jeddah, with a combined investment value of $10 billion. These developments are now moving into the implementation phase.
According to sources cited by Kathimerini, the Trump Organization—following significant growth and deals across the Persian Gulf—is now shifting focus toward Europe. It has already initiated flagship projects in Ireland and Scotland and is assessing opportunities in additional countries. Greece stands out as a prime candidate, given its status as a top global tourism destination with a powerful international brand.
In this regard, a Trump Organization working group could visit Greece in the near future to explore potential collaborations. The company's typical approach involves creating one iconic, signature project per country, often featuring a landmark high-rise tower combining residential and hospitality elements, alongside broader residential developments in the surrounding area. Sites under consideration are usually large-scale plots of 700,000–800,000 square meters or more, in prime, carefully chosen locations.
Last year, there were informal talks regarding a possible partnership at the site of the former Elliniko airport, but those discussions did not progress further.
This meeting aligns with broader efforts during Papastavrou's trip, which includes engagements on energy, critical minerals, and strategic infrastructure projects between Greece and Saudi Arabia.
