Athens, January 14, 2026 – Australian Ambassador to Greece, Romania, and Bulgaria, Alison Duncan, joined counterparts from the Republic of Korea, Japan, and New Zealand for a high-level discussion with Greece’s Foreign Minister, H.E. George Gerapetritis.
The meeting focused on the deepening cooperation between NATO and its Indo-Pacific Partners (IP4) – Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and New Zealand. Participants exchanged views on regional security developments in the Indo-Pacific and their direct relevance and implications for Greece and the broader NATO Alliance.

Ambassador Duncan described the exchange as “useful and important,” highlighting the growing strategic significance of NATO-IP4 ties amid shared challenges in an increasingly interconnected global security environment.
The discussion aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen interoperability and information-sharing between NATO and key Indo-Pacific democracies, particularly in areas such as maritime security, hybrid threats, emerging technologies, and resilience against coercion.
This engagement reflects Greece’s active role in NATO’s evolving partnerships beyond the Euro-Atlantic area, as well as Australia’s commitment to multilateral security dialogues with European allies.
