Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, speaking to Mega TV on Monday, firmly stated that extending Greece's territorial waters remains an inalienable sovereign right of the country, one that Greece "will exercise at the appropriate time."
He made clear that issues of sovereignty are non-negotiable and not open to discussion. Marinakis reiterated that Greece and Türkiye have only one outstanding dispute: the delimitation of the continental shelf and the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Turning to domestic news, he described the devastating fire at the biscuit factory in Trikala as "tragic."
"There are no words," Marinakis said, offering his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
The incident at the facility (reported as the Violanta biscuit factory) involved an explosion and massive blaze, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries, with rescue efforts ongoing amid reports of missing individuals.
