NEW YORK – Greek-American billionaire entrepreneur and Red Apple Group Founder and Chairman John Catsimatidis, shipping executive Dr. Nikolas Tsakos, and two major organisations – The Hellenic Initiativehttps://thehellenicinitiative.org/ (THI) and Capital Link – have been announced as the Grand Marshals of the 2026 New York Greek Independence Parade.

This year’s parade will take place on Sunday, April 26, along New York’s iconic 5th Avenue.

The announcement was made by Parade Committee Chairman Lou Katsos in a video message presented during the annual joint Vasilopita-cutting ceremony of Hellenic organisations, held on January 30 at the Archdiocesan Cathedral’s Chiotes Hall in Manhattan.
Katsos had earlier confirmed that the parade would honour two individuals and two organisations as Grand Marshals this year, a decision finalised three months ahead of the flagship Greek-American community event.

Honouring Leaders of the Greek Diaspora
Founded in 2012, The Hellenic Initiative (THI) is the only global non-profit organisation dedicated to uniting Greeks around the world through philanthropy and investment in Greece’s future. Since its establishment, THI has raised millions of dollars and grown into the largest Greek Diaspora organisation worldwide.

Capital Link, led by its President Nicolas Bornozis, has long played a central role in promoting Greece as an international business and investment destination. Among its flagship initiatives is the annual Invest in Greece Forum in New York, which brings together global investors, policymakers, and business leaders to foster dialogue and investment opportunities linked to Greece.
The selection of this year’s Grand Marshals highlights the enduring impact of Greek-American leadership in business, philanthropy, and global advocacy, as the community prepares to celebrate Greece’s national independence in one of the largest Greek parades outside Greece.
