Athens, February 13, 2026 – Popular Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis (also known as George Mazonakis) has been hospitalized at Metropolitan Hospital in Faliro since Tuesday, February 10, 2026, after experiencing severe abdominal pain and high fever.

The doctors initially suspected a viral infection and admitted him for tests. During examinations, gallstones (cholelithiasis) were discovered incidentally. The medical team decided that immediate laparoscopic surgery to remove them is necessary, scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026.

"Mr. Georgios Mazonakis was admitted on 10/02/2026 to Metropolitan Hospital in Faliro with symptoms of fever and abdominal pain. During clinical and laboratory examination, an incidental finding of cholelithiasis was detected. He will be treated surgically on Saturday 14/02/2026.

The singer arrived at the hospital alone despite intense pain. He notified friends and his personal doctor, who advised immediate medical attention.

Earlier reports suggested a viral infection treatable with medication, with positive response and good psychological state. However, the gallstone discovery changed the plan, shifting from expected discharge to surgery.

Regarding his mother, Cleo: She was hospitalized for about three weeks but has since been discharged and returned home. No further details are available due to medical confidentiality.

No official statement has been made on cancellations of his upcoming performances, but reports indicate the nightclub where he appears will remain closed tonight, Thursday, February 12.

The singer remains stable, and the procedure is described as routine laparoscopic removal of gallstones.
