In a poignant moment ahead of their UEFA Nations League match, England and Greece paid tribute to George Baldock, who tragically passed away at the age of 31.
The former Sheffield United defender, who had recently played for Panathinaikos and earned 12 caps for Greece, was found dead on Wednesday in the communal pool of his villa in Greece.
Before kick-off at Wembley Stadium, players from both teams observed a minute’s silence to honor Baldock's memory. In a moving gesture, the Greek national team held up a shirt bearing his name, acknowledging his contributions to their squad.
